The Pidal-Cainejo route whas the chosen one by the Marquis Pedro Pidal and Gregorio Pérez ¨the cainejo¨ to start the first climbing route in Picu Urriellu and in Spain, it happened in the summer of 1904. This feat marked the history of Spanish mountaineering.
The climb doesn´t have many difficulties but, the length of the route, the north orientation, the difficulty to withdrawal and the fantastic climbing pitches makes this climb a category ascension. It´s an ideal itinerary for people with experience in mountain classic climbs.
Video:
An easy 50 meters pitch will introduce us in the alpine route, we will arrive to the famous slab "Llambrialina" pitch. After a two easy pitches we will arrive to the north shoulder and his aerial north spur, not hard, but the difficulty of the climb is very maintened. After this, we will keep climbing to the top by the famous and fantastic chimneys of his north face. In the first meters on the chimneys we will find the hardest part of the route, the famous "Panza de Burra¨, a small 5 meters of athletic climb, after this, the climb is very easy and the summit starts to be very close. We will start to fell tired, but the thing to make the same steps of the first ascensionist will motivate us to do the last meters to the top.
